PREREQUISITE: Long Form Scenework

In this workshop you'll practice patient, connected scenework in longer two-person scenes lived in real time. We'll focus on diving deeply into our character's emotional point of view, developing strong relationships with our scene partners, and finding compelling pacing within these longer scenes while squeezing every last drop out of the moment we're in. (Note: The nature of this workshop means you'll spend time playing and lots of time watching your classmates' scenes. So come ready to learn by doing and observing!)

Maddy Benjamin is the Program Manager and Facilitator of Fun at Happier Valley Comedy. She got her start in improv in 2010 with IT: Improvisational Theater at the College of William & Mary, and joined the HVC community in 2017. Maddy is a founding member of "Not In Charge" and "2nd Saturdays Presents," and performs with several HVC casts. You'll also catch her teaching advanced improv classes and Improv 4, hosting the monthly Comedy Quiz Show on WHMP, solving the NYT crossword puzzle, and serving as the unofficial laugh track for any show or class she attends.

Masks are not required, but they are always welcome.
